Communication. For many, it's verbal. For me, it's visual. Text on a page presented in different fonts, styles, colors. An achromatic painting with an egg wrapped in a blanket. A torn piece of notebook paper with a pencil drawing of a can of V8 juice. Visual cues lead us to respond, to interact, to question, to feel, to imagine, to share, to--inevitably--communicate with others. The focus of my work is to encourage involvement with the viewer--to participate, to manipulate conversation on a visual level through use of color and spatial relationships, to share my life experiences without "telling" the story, and to develop a deeper connection with all of life's quandaries.
